Nikon D50 Help

Hi all,

I have a quick Q about my Nikon camera. It seems to freeze up very frequently. If I take the battery out, all is well, but otherwise it won't even respond to the power being switched off. Is there firmware or software in these things that can be updated? Anyone else have this problem?

I believe you can try to update your firmware - do a search on google. If not, I'd take it to a pro shop to see if they can help out. Generally they just send it back to Nikon, but you might get lucky. Good luck!

I checked the Nikon site, and it tells me that there are no firmware updates on the D50. Maybe there is some way to reload or reset the camera?

It could be a problem with the lens not being on there right. I had the same problem when I bought a new lens. I have to make sure the lens is turned all the way to the right, or I get an error message, or the battery "pretends" to be dead. If I take out the battery and put it back in, it works for a while, but will error again unless the lens is on there right.

It's believed to be an issue between the lens contacts and the body contacts not meeting up right. Reseating your lens might help, then make sure it is always turned all the way to the right. Let us know!
