nikon d5000 settings for reef

Hey guys, I got a chance to use my sisters camera for some pics today but only one turned out good for me (I only took a few). The pictures turned out a little more blue than the tank looks in real life. What would be the best settings for me to use? The lens is a nikon DX VR. Thanks!
 
You need to shot in raw and adjust the White Balance in post processing. Settings don't help much because to shoot fish, you need a fast shutter, not so much for corals.
 
Yep. Camera sensors have problems with the higher kelvin temps we use on out tanks.

that's the best one i got shooting in raw and then editing. It looks a bit cartoonish to me though
 
That's not too bad. I'm taking for granted you're using a non macro type lens, like an 18-55 or 18-70. These lenses won't get you close like a macro lens, but you can still learn with it. I don't know what you shot it at, but it seems a little overexposed. Shorten your shutter a little.
