Nikon D7000 Movie Trailer

Not too shabby. I've been pondering this camera as my upgrade from my D200 at some point especially considering that all the pro bodies are just far too out of my price-point to be realistic. The D7000 seems to be a very solid performer in all regards. I especially like the fact that the body has the focus drive pin thus keeping the selection of usable lenses very wide open.

Very Nice, I just picked up a D7000 also two days ago. Couldn't pass up the deal Costco had.

I just got my D7000 yesterday, I'm already excited over the features and look forward to shooting videos.

I've been lookin at this cam also but I'm thinking I would rather have a cam that has the VR built into the body rather than the lens. Granted I'm not up to speed on a lot of traditional photography technology as I've always been in television media (production) and while they are similar, they are very different. I'd love to hear some reviews and possibly see some pics from those of you who have already purchased this so I can see how this cam really is. I mean the only reason to buy a cam is for the tank and inhabitants right? ;)

I shoot with a D700...however, I've had the opportunity to use a D7000 for a couple of weeks. I'm so damn impressed with the D7000, that I'm considering selling the D700 and going with the D7000.

As far in in-body vs in-lens VR...most of what I've read over the years say the VR is typically better in the lens than in the body. They can tune the VR better when it's designed for the lens it's in vs making the camera try to do it for every lens ever built for that format.

Phuster...when you shoot those videos...what lens were you using?

Also..what are you using for stability...or was it shot hand held?

Thanks,
eric

IMHO...I am no techie but in-lens VR/OS/etc seems to generally be much better than in-body. First, it can be best tuned to the optical needs of the particular lens. Second, you can only torque a sensor so much before you start potentially causing issues with it down the road. I'd rather the specifically tuned lens than a generally tuned body.

I actually sold my D700 yesterday in a trade deal for a D7000.

Looking forward to a slightly smaller body and the video ability.

What lenses are you guys using for these videos?

eric
