Been wanting to get a Nikon D80 with 2 lens, saw some great deals on ebay for much much cheaper price with all sorts of accessories than whats offered in Bhphoto or Ritz camera, what should I be awared of and is there any downfall from purhasing at ebay stores.

Just some examples for the deals I saw:

You can get the D80 body from B and H for $924, they are a reputable seller and you will have the factory warranty. Through the ebay ones, you are paying $1100+ for a camera that comes with their 1-year "store" warranty and cheap lenses and accessories, which you will probably not use anyways in due time. I would go through a reputable store and get some good glass. It makes no sense to get a good camera body and put cheap glass in front of it. If you are tight on a budget, see what you can pick up from the classifieds on the FredMiranda.com board.

Warranty is the only issue. Sometime I hear they don't transfer. I'm not sure about Nikon however.

I bought my Canon and some lenses from eBay and have had no problems thus far.

ok what is the difference between manufacture and store warrenty.

I am buying this camera for macro shots of my tank and all purpose general shooting, do you think these two lens will suffice.

Nikon 28-80 F3.3-5.6G AF Zoom Nikkor
Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Zoom-Nikkor

If not what would you guys recommend, thank you.

The manufacturers warranty is through the manufacturer. The store warranty is through the store. If the store is not worth their word then neither is their warranty. Do they take 6 months to repair your camera? How long will you work with them on the phone before they agree to fix your problem?

Those lenses are older. You'd be better off with a nice 17-85 or just go for the real deal... the 18-200VR. I bought a D50 because I couldn't afford decent glass for a D80 and the camera is only as good as the lens. Garbage lens, garbage photo's.

The lens you should have depends on the photo's you want to take. You can get a lot of great photo's with the $125 50mm 1.8D lens. It's not a zoom lens, but then it's only $125. I seriously considered getting a D50 w/the 50mm and pocketing the $250 the 17-85 cost.
