Nikon lens good?

I found a Nikon 35-70mm lens on craigslist. Are these good?
It has a macro feature which I really like.
Any imput is great.

50?!?!?! I would make sure it works. Are you sure it fits on your current camera? I had an older Nikon Film SLR (equivelent of the D200) that had a 35mm- 70mm lens and when I put it on my new DSLR the picture quality was really poor compared to the ones it took with film.

The guy that is selling it just got a bunch of prime lenses from his father and is getting rid of his zoom lenes.
Here is the lens.

It is the one that the Nikon FM10.

If it works (functionally, since being an AIS lens, it'll mount on any digital body), it's still a very mediocre lens. Prone to flare and ghosting. You'll need to stop the lens down to f/8 to f/11 to get the sharpness out of it.

Also keep in mind that this is an older lens so you will not have autofocusing or metering (you'll have to do those yourself).

I was gonna get the lens below but the guy sold it out from under me.

You know where I can get it for a good price? The used is 180 and I was gonna get it for 150, so that price would be better.
