Depends on which body you use it on. It's pretty zippy on the pro bodies (1DIIN and the D2X).

It'll autofocus. Where did you read that it won't? It's an AFS lens.

I just don't like it because the optics on it aren't the best (go w/the 18-70mm, the 18-135mm or the 18-200mm as stated) and the build quality is very poor.

They carry everything you could need. They are a great place to shop at.

I'm currently running a Nikon D80 with a few lenses.. 50mm 1.4 and a 2.8 28-70mm.

You can get a gray box for a few $$$ less but remember that it won't be serviced by a Nikon dealer if you take it in the states.. they have a Non-US warranty.

That's a limitation of the D40* not Tamron's lenses.

thats basiclly how I read it to beerguy. To bad to cuz all of the reviews of that lens were great for the price.

well I'm looking at a used D80 that BH has but the problem is they arn't telling me eveything it comes with (says in box) and the condition is - refurbished by Nikon. I tried calling but they are closed today and tommorow and I was wanting to take this on my trip next week. I leave Tuesday

Just ordered a Like New Nikon D80 from KEH with a new Tamron Lens listed above for the same price as what BH had plus it told me what all it had.

Now to go to BH and order me a bag

Cool drauka!!!! I don't know what all the fuss is about auto focus though. I find myself in the manual mode more often than not. I'm still gonna be looking at a lens for shooting macros that has zoom and focus on one ring and it's most likely only gonna be manual on the d40 I have. Let me know how the lens works out for you. Post some pics as soon as you can. Let me know how you like the lens!!!!!

I'm lazy, i'm sure from time to time, I'll use the manual but I like the option without having to buy super expensive lenses.

I'll be using it next week so hopefully I'll have a few decent pics to post and you can see what my newest toy can do(in my hands)

I picked it up from KEH this evening, supper nice folks. Had it ready for me when I got there and was in and out with everything in no time. Charged the bat and took a few shots around, nothing worth posting just getting a feel for the new camera.

The pentax k110D is also quite a nice dslr and it will cost you less than the nikon.
