I am looking for a nitrate filter for 300g total volume,,,what is the best to buy and don't have to deal with weir setup or problem ?
my nitrate alway above 25,,,or even more,,i didn't feed too much and i try everything already but still ,,so please let me know thanks

Remote deep sand bed is your solution.

60lb of aragonite per 100gallons will do the job.

Or check into a Sulphur Denitrator/Denitrifier. There are some nice DIY projects in the DIY forum, or check with Deltec or some other sites like that.

remote sandbed question

remote sandbed question

Lets say I have 200 total gallons. How large of a remote tank would I need for the 120lbs of argonite sand?

RDSB??

RDSB??

ok i have 300g which mean 180lb of lsand,,
and i am looking at 180$ plus taxes and tube so i ended up spend over 200$
i rather use that for some kind of nitrate filter unit for long term,,,

any other sugesstion??/ if you have own one please let me know if it work or not,,,thanks

check out midwest aquatics and there XL unit for sulphur denitrifer... I have one and love it. I had high nitrates and with 6 weeks the tank tested out at 0 and have had 0 for almost a year now....

great, quality product and it was very easy to set up.

thanks i check them out but no phone number,,,i emailed,,will see how long iits take to get something back,,

more effiecient skimming and more frequent water change.

If you want to get the ultimate then get a zeo reactor and use the zeo rock. The rock will absorbe amonia therefore your waste product don't even have a chance to produce nitrite and no nitrite equal to no nitrate.

i see you have zeovit reactor in your list there,,how is that work out for you?? easy to set up and maintanance?? how much its cost ? thanks

A few months back....I was thinking about the same things you are now. Nitrate reactors...deep sand beds...I had some serious hair algae challenges...

I put a refugium in place....started growing algae in there like mad...and nitrates fell to zero. At least, so close to zero that I can't measure any with my American Marine Nitrate monitor. fuge has a 5" sand bed.

My fuge is lit 24/7. I grow a disgusting mix of chaeto and hair algae. The fuge is only 20 gallons for a 400 gallon system. I feed heavily, and don't have any kind of super-duper skimmer (G6).

That's what worked for me, anyway.

not much to do with the reactor . I shake the reactor a couple time every other day. This reactor is very simple to DIY but if you want to buy it cost like about 300. The main idea with the zeo rock is they absorbe amonia which help to reduce nitrate since amonia is the first state of the nitrogen cycle.
