Nitrate up

My Nitrate level has recently increased to 40 ppm I was wondering if other than water changes can lower the nitrate levels. And if i should change the levels immedialty.

In your case, with a 2.5g tank, I'd suggest checking the feeding levels and doing some water changes.

It can depend on the kit as well. My dip one reads 50, and liquid drop type is 15. And the tank looks perfect. Water changes is the key I say. Macro-Algea tends to reduce the Nitrate.

Agree with all of the above. Just know that a small system like you have is a touchy situation.Not much room for error.

I just did the safe thing and did a water change real quick. Not a big deal really but thanks for the replies
