Welcome to reef cenrtal. I moved an established 150 a little over a year and a half ago From Cleve airport area to Ravenna and didn't have any problems. I have read some where in all this mess that if you disturb enough of the old sand bed it will release all kind of nasties back into the water collum (spell?) and thus making your tank into a bio-hazzard for your fish. Good luck figuring it out. But I don't think the water change is what did it. From past expierience as a mechanic, when someone told me thier "buddy" changed this or cleaned that, I knew that I was in for a treat. Not to knock your buddy but this is hobby is not like ccanging a gold fish bowl. He could have had his hands in something and didn't think to wash them first. Who knows, just be careful who you let in your tanks. I learn every day.
