Nitrates Spiked

Hi all,
I was treating my 75 gallon reef aquarium for Dino algae with a 3 day black out
That has seemed to work well but in the process I seem to have lost 2 Pink Bar Goby's I had them with a pistol shrimp that I had not seen since the day I put him in but the Goby's hung out on one side and thought he was still there just didn't be there at the right times to see him.
I had noticed a small increase in my Nitrates before the blackout but I'm sure that the Goby's were there.
Now after the blackout I can't find the Goby's and the Harlequin Banded Serpent Star that used to hang out on the other side of the tank was under the rocks that the Goby's used to guard and where I thought that's where the Pistol shrimp was. The Serpent Star is back where it was originally but the Goby's I think are gone. Nitrates went up to 5ppm after changing 40 gallons of water they are down to 1.5 ppm should I do another water change?

If you want.. but I don't know why you think you need to..
Based on what you have stated so far neither 5ppm nor 1.5ppm of nitrate is a problem at all..

In general nitrate levels like that are only a minor problem for high end very picky SPS corals and I mean very picky.... Fish only tanks can run 50+ppm levels (100+ even) without issue..

thx I'm just not used to seeing them and think it's from the Goby's because they are gone dead spike nitrates right
