nitrates

I recently put in a skimmer and have been doing water changes but my nitrates are still reading between 10 and 20... I want to get them to as close to zero as possible. I'm sure that they will eventually start to drop because my skimmer has only been running for less than a week.

My question is about the phosphate/nitrate absorbing packages that you can put in your tank. I hope you know what I'm talking about... I have "phos-x" made by "hagen" left over from my freshwater days and was wondering if it would be alright if I put one in my hob filter (whisper 20).

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

Water changes are cheaper and more effective than most other techniques in a nano tank to solve most water problems.

Also, have the LFS confirm your test results, many a member couldn't solve a problem that only existed due to cheap/faulty test kits.

hmmm... havn't thought about having someone else check. It sucks because the closest reputable saltwater LFS is about an hour away...

Could it hurt to just put it in there even if my readings were incorrect???

Thanks for the input and advice... definitely appreciated!!!
