Nitrates?

after being in the same location for at least a month, my two larger anenomes decided to move yesterday so i checked my levels. Everything is pretty normal but Nitrate level is at 20-40 ppm. Best way to lower them is a water change i am assuming??

ya that would be the quickest way, generally. Are you using any canisters or wet/dry filters? Or any media other than like carbon?

eh, i dont run a skimmer on my 40b thats been going for a year and looking better every week :) I was using a sump, but i havent been for a couple weeks due to an accident on my part and i dont have the time to (or just dont feel like it :) ) put it back together.

What are you running in your HOB filter though? Is there any media besides carbon?

Ok thats good. Those can cause nitrates if you've got them (the biomedias, biowheels, and bioballs), but you dont, so no worries there.

I recommend doing that small water change, and then getting some sort of fuge going...could be just a regular HOB filter like an aquaclear 70 or something. Thats what i've done and its worked pretty good.

anenomes will move in the tank once in a while. I do not think it has something to do with nitrate. But it's better to keep nitrate under control.

ya i know that they move, i have sat and watched them a few times. My point was that after a month of being in wonderful viewing spots, they moved to not so great ones lol
