Nitrofuracin green

Great- I talked to the guys at natl fish pharm. In my 75 gal QT, they said to dose and wait 5 days to do 25% WC and dose again. Is this dose not as therapeutic as the daily version?

With a tank that large that's the best route. The daily w/c plus full dosage keeps the water as clean as possible (waste, ammonia) which is important for healing infections.

The Methylene Blue has subtle tranquilizing properties so don't be alarmed if the fish acts hazy.

Thanks- I'm wondering if I should add a little extra of the NFG. He's got these growths/lesions in his mouth that arebigger than yesterday. Any advice?

No, even after water changes + carbon you will still see that the water is blue. I use poly filter + carbon to remove meds with several large w/c's.

Funny thing though. I'm on day two of NGP in my QT for some mouth problems on a butterflyfish, and a carpenter's wrasse in the same QT is very unhappy. It could be a coincidence, but he had been fine for the prior week. I know wrasses can react badly to some meds, but anyone have this kind of adverse reaction to NGP from a wrasse? FWIW, the butterflyfish couldn't seem to care less (thought they do appear a bit loopy).

I used a large amount of carbon and my water was crystal clear in 3 hours... I called national fish pharm and they told me that 48 hours with a decent amount of carbon would take out the medicine... If I did a large water change they said 24 hours. FWIW, I used carbon in a reactor.

I have no experience with the wrasses but so far every fish I've used NFG on didn't react badly

Well, for what it is worth, my new Carpenter's Wrasse was looking very unhappy in the tank with NGP - laying on the bottom, breathing heavily, etc. Removed him to a different QT, and was not optimistic when I left for the long weekend, however, he is back to patrolling the tank, looks loads better and is at least showing an interest in food again (though mainly spitting).

Not saying I won't use this stuff with wrasses in the future, just that close observation is warranted IMO.
