Its late and the salinity in my tank is sky high, at this hour only drinking water is sold, do you think this water would be ok?

also my blenny keeps scatching himself against the rocks, do you guys think this is due to the salinity

What is a high reading to you? What are you measuring it with?


No, rubbing rocks sounds like something else is wrong. How long have you had the fish in there?

my hydrometer reads 1.0265

my blenny has been in there for a week

tank is two and a half weeks old

I did have four damsels but I took them out today and took them back to the lfs and they gave me 5 bucks (RIP OFFS they sold them to me for 3.99 ea) but I took them back due to the great advise here, cause I cant get my ammo to come down from .15 ppm

I wouldn't trust a hydrometer, so I wouldn't make any changes there. Take a sample of your water to the LFS and have them check it with a properly calibrated refractometer. I would suggest that you buy or start saving for a refractometer, it will save you headaches down the road

When I started this hobby I used a hydrometer. After picking up a refractometer I found out that I had been running my tank at about 1.019 when the hydrometer said 1.025.

Watch your blenny closely, he may have the beginning of ich or another parasitic infection. Be prepared to treat accordingly.

Salinity is not that high ,,, your problem is 2&half weeks is too soon to have livestock in that tank.
