I do not currently have a drip plate over my bio balls (fowlr) for my wet dry. Is there an easy way to substitute till i order one? should i put some filter media in there to help break the water as it hits. Thank you. db
How is the water dumping in/over the Bio Balls now? You can place anything, including strategically placed Bio Balls to aid in breaking up the water flow temporarily.
Hey kona, Water is falling very fast down on to a peice of pre filter material that is laid over some bio-balls. Not sure if that is a mistake for breeding algae or keeping good stuff from living?
find whatevery you can (reef safe) put right under where the water is falling to make it splash across the majority of the bio balls. the filter pad will keep them from getting fouled. just make sure you keep it clean as it can do more harm than good if not maintained.
You could even add a 90Ã"šÃ‚° elbow to help spread the water out over the filter pad. Keeping it clean will be the key to wether it creates other problems.
