No Honor.

I did an order with you guys this weekend, buying a Current fixture, which was listed on their website at an unbelievable price

<a href="http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q112/gchilder/Marine%20Depot%20screwballs/?action=view&current=MarineDepotScrewup.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q112/gchilder/Marine%20Depot%20screwballs/MarineDepotScrewup.jpg" border="0" alt="Marine Depot Screwup.JPG"></a>

I thought wow that’s a great deal, so I purchased a couple.

<a href="http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q112/gchilder/Marine%20Depot%20screwballs/?action=view&current=MarineDepotSaleReciept.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q112/gchilder/Marine%20Depot%20screwballs/MarineDepotSaleReciept.jpg" border="0" alt="Marine Depot Sale Reciept.JPG"></a>

Then Sunday I get their after Christmas sale circular with the same item listed at the top, but with a different price. It was at the moment I figured that “hey someone messed up” but with Marine Depot generally having a good reputation they would honor their price. “it was listed at the 16.99 price all weekend btw”.

<a href="http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q112/gchilder/Marine%20Depot%20screwballs/?action=view&current=MarineDepotSaleCircular.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q112/gchilder/Marine%20Depot%20screwballs/MarineDepotSaleCircular.jpg" border="0" alt="Marine Depot Sale Circular.JPG"></a>

Today I get an email from Marine Depot which I guess I should have expected

<a href="http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q112/gchilder/Marine%20Depot%20screwballs/?action=view&current=MarineDepotRejectionemail.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q112/gchilder/Marine%20Depot%20screwballs/MarineDepotRejectionemail.jpg" border="0" alt="Marine Depot Rejection email.JPG"></a>

So I called the 1-800 # and was told they had no stock of that fixture, when I asked why it was in their circular, I was told someone had messed up that Current no longer made that fixture? What gives? I asked to be switched to a similar fixture and your sales rep told me it was not possible. Just so you know I no long plan on doing business with your company and want others to be warned, when they mess up they have no interest in doing the right thing. Marine Depot feel free to PM me if you want to respond, and I would like to ask people not to bash them on this thread the evidence is here just keep it in the back of your mind when you place your next order. If anyone who ordered one of these fixtures this weekend at this price recieves one that would be nice to know.

Marine Depot has angered a lot of customers with this phony sale. I was among the hundreds that received the same cancellation...

Fool me once...

I am among the others as well.. I also received the cancellation email shortly after receiving the after-christmas sale ad which had the item listed at the top.. Wonderful.

I also bought one and had my order canceled. Why complain though? It's not their fault they sold out FAST! It was over the weekend so with no one working they probably couldn't update their system. I was a little disapointed as well but really why gripe about it. I would still do business with them, even if I didn't get the light.

Also if you paid attention to the add it said 44% off of 79.99 which is 44.79 not 16.99. I bet it was just an honest mistake.

The add actually says starting at $79.99 which saves you 44%. I'm sure a company their size has a more sophisticated inventory system than that, I'm just saying...

Yeah the online add says 90%, but the circular says 44%. Your excused.

And yes I totally agree they should have a better inventory system like premium aquatics, but unfortunately it doesn't seem that they do.

Thanks for posting, I was about to place an order for their holiday sale........I emptied my cart and will go with another company.

Public relations job? Sorry if I'm not mad because I didn't get a deal on a mistake or didn't order fast enough to get it.LOL I just think it's wrong to bash an otherwise good company for a short supply or mistake. We all make mistakes. Don't we?

BTW "They" has a "y" in it, and "not" doesn't have a "j" in it.

Marine Depot has always been good to me. Mistakes happen and I will still continue to buy from them. Mistake that is frustrating I agree, but worth bashing no.

I will probably order again at some point, but just shows the type of Customer Service they give... They send a lame email saying they ran out, not offering an alternative... DFS wouldn't ever pull off a stunt like that, that's all

The original poster just stated the facts. He even posted the emails sent by the company.

No bashing here, just looks like good, old fashioned consumer feedback.

anyhow, isnt that what the vendor forums are for? Just a guess

PS, George is 100 percent correct "fool me once"

$16.99 is probably lower than their wholesale cost. If you owned the business (someone similar to you probably does) would you take a loss of thousands of dollars during the Christmas season which is supposed to be a high profit time of the year, or would you risk making a few people angry?

Sucks you didn't get the deal, but c'mon guys don't blame a reputable company for an honest mistake. A web developer probably already lost his job over this. I have done a lot of business with marine depot and have always been happy.

If it's a mistake, they should say it was a mistake.... Not say they're out of stock... Also, a company their size could afford to do something like this since they're discontinued and probably just trying to get rid of old stock... My company does it all the time.

The kicker for me is that they posted a sale add for a product they didn't have in stock. I ordered on Saturday; the email circular came on Sunday. That's more than just an inventory issue.

Personally for me it was the "sorry just to bad" I got from Krystal. I asked if there was anything else they could do and she offered to transfer me to technical support. I work in a call center. I have worked customer service. I know what it is to be like the umteenth caller to yell at me. It was not Krystal's fault in anyway but the company failed. They failed miserably. Mistakes to happen but the company failed to step up in anyway.
