No luck finding an Achilles Tang.....

I promised my wife a few years back that I would someday find an Achilles Tang for us. I have searched high and low here in Toronto and have come up with nothing.

I did put a deposit down at a local store and when he did receive the four of the fish he increased his price from 129.99 to 299.99 each (I simply got my deposit back).

Is there any places local to me that may have these fishes in stock ? is it possible to have it shipped to me from a vendor that has good feedback (if so whom).

any info would be fantastic , also please note with shipping we are very cold here in Toronto so this would make me a little nervous.

I would not try to keep one in a 150 gal for long term. Save yourself some heartache and get a diff fish. Very poor success rate.

Try LiveAquaria.com.

I order mine from them 3 weeks ago. Outstanding is all I can say. The fish was in excellent health and the packaging/shipping was the best I have ever seen. The Achilles had over 3 gallons of water in the bag and was packed so well it took me 10 minutes to unwrap. He is currently in my 220g. I did not QT as these fish do very poorly in QT. Ate nori and off live rocks on first day in tank. I highly recommend LA.

Oh yeah...14 day guarantee on the Achilles tang with them too. They are the only place online I have seen offer that on this particular fish.

Dunno if reef hot spot ships to Ca but it looks like they have the 2-3 in size in stock for $130. But I agree that a 150 is probably too small. I've seen big achilles in 6' tanks at the LFS and they just arent happy.

^which LFS did that?...the price increase i mean.

Anyhow i think that aquavalley.ca has one in stock but i think its close to $200

Shipping live animals to outside the US is not a relatively simple thing. There are permits and arrangements which must be made, and create a larger issue. Its not that its impossible, but usually far more efforts than its worth to sell 1 fish (or even a few fish).
