No PE, removed flame, how long to wait?

My tanks have always had great polyp extension. I did go through some semi recent "issues" but things have been good for some time now. Things are corful and growing. PE is very good at night.

After being in denial about my flame angel, I finally caught him picking at everything. I caught him and he's been in the sumo for s week.

Polyps are still retracted but a couple of pieces show slight improvement but barely.

I've read accounts of a couple of weeks before things going back to normal, just wanted to get some input/opinions. What I find strange is its not just the acros, my encrusting montis and euphylia are also retracted somewhat.

Thanks!

After I removed my nippy rusty angle it took a few weeks. Sorry I do not remember how many, it has been a while.

Yeah I remember reading your comment somewhere else. Thanks. Was your rusty doing damage or just irritating? Seems like my flame did not target anything specifically but would randomly pick at everything!

It was damaging to the point of actually killing a milli frag. It was also doing a number on my acans. Lucky I did not loose any of them.

I've got a lemonpeel angel that nips at almost all my SPS, nothing damaging but I have no polyp extension during the day, at night it's still insane and my corals still have great colours and growth. I'd personally say if it's not killing SPS and retracted polyps are the extent of the damage, let it slide.

My milles look stoopid with no polyps, lol. I have to imagine that although colorful and growing, the constant harassment has to affect growth. I love the flame, but love stix more. Besides, I already have a pair of swallowtails in qt;)

I'd get him completely out of the system.....I've had my share of pesty fish....I would not be surprised if the coral can sense he's still around......when I took my flame out, polyps were back in no more than 2 days.

I thought of that but man is that a stretch. I guess if in a week or 2 I can't rehome him I'll throw him in the qt to see what happens.....

don't under estimate the power of mother nature......

I've witnessed my six line wrasse peck at a stylo aggressively and the stylo could care less..... but one tiny peck from a flame and it will retract for hours.

I believe the stylo could tell the wrasse meant no harm......

I think these corals are a lot smarter than we give them credit for (not bad for no brain...hu)
