No Stripe Sick

Yesterday I noticed one of my no stripes (have had it for about 3 weeks) was breathing rapidly. I kept an eye on him and decided to QT him. Before I put him in the QT tank I gave him a FW dip and he seemed much improved this morning. Since about noon or so today he has been lethargic and is seeming to only "mouth" the food I present to him, including garlic soaked mysis. Today he has had a few white specks around his head. Earlier I gave him another FW dip and that reduced the number of white specs to one large one. It is not wide, but it does stand off his face quite a bit. I'm not sure if this is ick or not but I am worried. I have lowered my salinity from 1.025 in the QT tank down to 1.019 over the course of the day and am considering taking it down to hypo levels. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!
Adam

I didn't see anything in the FW water after the dip, but then again I didn't really look super well, and it probably wouldn't have been obvious as he was in a rather large bowl with about 1/2 gallon of DI water. I'll keep my fingers crossed as I don't have any copper on hand...we'll see how he's doing in the morning. Thanks Oama.

get some copper in the morning, buy a good kit too. Clowns are very sensitive to copper, can be real easy to overdose. Very odd that it pops up after 3 weeks, usually within 2-4 days you can tell if a clown is ill. Have you recently added anything else to your tank?

Thanks everyone. I added two corals last tuesday, but thats it. Unless it came in on that I don't know. The other clown which is still in the display tank seems fine though.

I went this morning and purchased some copper from petsmart. They didn't have a test kit for it though... So I added only 1/2 of what the box recommends. I just bought the only copper test kit in town to get it home and realize its useless... Aquarium Pharmac. its graduations are no where near fine enough to determine where the copper actually is. I will return it. On a good note, however, the clown has seemingly shed all of its white spots. This occuring within 2hrs of putting the copper in. He is still breathing hard, but came up to the glass to say hello, something he hasn't done in over two days. He still will not accept food. I will try again tonight with garlic/vitamin soaked mysis, normally his favorite.

Thanks!

keep up with the meds, this is part of the disease's life cycle. The spots will come back if left alone.

Update:

I have been keeping up with the meds. Today he has gotten a little worse so I decided to do a formalin dip. I saw some parasites leave him but he is swimming head down for the most part. He also has a red dot, that almost looks like a scab on his face. I have also raised the temperature to 82f. If anyone else has suggestions I'm about all out.

Thanks,
Adam
