Noisy 6205s

Hi Roger,

I just purchased two 6205's, replacing older 6101's. The wider flow is great, but the noise is terrible. Sounds like hammer-drilling when at above 60%.
I tried holding the pumps in my hand, no diff. I disassembled them for inspection and it appears fine.
I read in earlier posts that there is a thicker shaft available.
How can I get a hold of few of these ?
I don't think the new holder brackets are going to help me much.
It looks like the impeller is out of balance, the life span will most likely be very short and there is definitely few hundreds of millimeter play on the shaft.
Thanks.

Denis,

I only handle the warranty and distribution for the US, you would need to contact Xenia, they are the distributor for Canada. I would think you need new drive units, the drive units were changed a few months ago to reduce noise and these are probably the older drive units.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the fast reply.
Is there a way to tell the manufactured date on these ?
On the box it says 6205.000_A
Was there revision in a part number ?
I would basically just like to know if I already have the revised drive units before I contact LFS.
Thank you.

A just means America or 115V/60Hz. The newer drive units have a longer magnet and the disk at the bottom will have a groove running across the middle where the shaft goes through on the top. I would be fairly certain that with what you describe, a new drive unit 6205.700 is what you need.

Hi Roger,

Thank you very much for your help.
I believe I do have the older drive unit.
The magnet measures 34mm and the shaft is 3.41 mm in diameter.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'll be contacting my LFS to see if I can get these replaced.

Thanks again for your time.

Yes, that is an older one, I don't have exact measurements for the new magnet but it is longer and thinner than shown, it is much longer in proportion to the shaft length. Also, i note you have two disks and this was an older construction.
