Noisy horizontal overflow... how can I quieten it?

Got tubes?
Hi all!

FINALLY!

I got everything in my tank running today.

However, I have the usual gurgling and whatnot associated with most new tanks.

I have a horizontal overflow, though, so I'm not positive a stockman or durso will work. Its only 4" deep.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried reducing it by closing the ball valves but that doesn't help much at all (as was kind of expected)

Thanks!

I was working on mine today to get it to quiet down i had to reduce the dia of my drains I used 2 1 inch bulk heads I did not leave enough room to install 90 on the inside i tryed a durso on the out side but that did not work well enough for me I ended up useing a 1 inch street 90 on the out side and reduced both drains to 1/2 pcv i run one fully open one close just a bit but it is dead silent took some messing with and a few pipe sizes to get it right with my pump but it is very quiet now and recovers great from simulated power outages

Gotcha...

I've got some extra 1/2" PVC... I've just already invested so much in 1". I know, I know, how much can plumbing be? But I'm quite a budget. :) At least until I get my amp sold.

Anyways, thanks for the tip. How deep is your overflow out of curiosity?

I matched the drains to the amount of water coming out of my pump they now run on full syphon but they are silent and been working great for about 8 hrs now

lol... my bad. I thought you were a different poster the second time. :) I wasn't paying enough attention... heh.
