Non-Fuel Backup Generators

Hello all,

With another hurricane season around the corner, I was thinking of how I can run small items (such as my Tunze pumps) after the power goes out and before I can go outside to turn on a fuel generator.

I have heard of people using auto or marine batteries to accomplish something like this.

Basically, if the power were to go out and I can not go outside to pull a generator out and start it, what can I use to keep the Tunze running.

I'm estimating a total run time of about 24 hours. I think within 24 hours a storm would pass over enough and be far enough to allow the conditions needed to go outside. This would then allow me to pull the fuel generator out and get it started.

Have any of you used a temporary batter backup system before. If so, how can I build a similar system to have handy in case I need it?

Another option is for me to locate and purchase two of the XantreX XPower PowerPack 1500 (product web site). Product specs. As per the web site, it states that this unit can run 30 watts for 14 hours. So I think two would work.

What do you think?

Good Luck and Have Fun!!!;
:thumbsup:
