Non-photosynthetic gorgonians - ID and particular care

i have a magenta gorgonian i bought about 3 months ago and i believ it is non-photosynthetic. i was wondering if you all get any growth out of these gorgonians or are you simply keeping them alive. how do they grow, do they lay down calcium as other corals do? mine is starting to show growth and new branches, basically what is happening is a know starts to form and from that knob grows a new branch. this seems like an abnormal growth pattern but growth nuntheless. this may be an easy coral to keep and nothing new so if anyone can shed some light on some of my questions that would be great.
joe.
ps don't ask for pics...i know you want them, i'll try to get some up soon, i have never been able to get them up before but this is more important and i'll get some help.lol. thanks again.

wow i just clicked on the link of dendro's mopsella spp.
that is it. i will still try and get some pics of mine so you can see the growth.

Here is link to the thread, where currently NPS gorgonians keepers are answering the same question, you can ask them there too.

I have only basal growth with very abundant feeding. Something else should influence new branches growth, not just amount and frequency of food.

Post your finds, links, progress too.

okay so you can see the growth i am getting, the knobby parts, they all have polyps and they extend from time to time.
the last pic shows the knob with the best growth, from the knob a normal "stick growth" is protruding. i may have vertical growth to but i did not take exact measurements when i first bought it so i cannot be sure, but i do think there has been some.
