Non-Profit status for club???

Greetings,

One thing I would like someone (possibly Treasurer) to do is research the pro's and con's of a Non-Profit status in respect to if we want to register the club with the State under such. Anyone wanting to do this, I would appreciate it.

The sooner we can present this at a meeting and get it decided, the sooner we can start accepting financial support.

Also, I'll suggest again here if anyone has any periodicals or books pertaining to the hobby that they would like to donate to the club's library, please bring them to the meeting. If it's going to be a lot let me know. I'm already going to have my hands full with my daughter and etc.

I am nominating my hubby to do the research on the non-profit angle for us. He has done alot of research on business laws and stuff so I will get him to see what he can do and let you guys know what it involves.

My husband has done some research and given me a little information that I will bring with me to the meeting on non-profit organizations.

It looks like we have to incorporate to do it and this list has alot of information on it with alot of things to do.

I'll look into it. I know for a profit business inc. in CA costs like $750 up front plus something every year. Hopefully it isn't like that for a non-profit. Thanks and I appreciate all the help!!!!!
