Nori from grocery store

Can I feed my fish nori from the grocery store? Any real diff from fish store product? My lfs is always outof stock. My grocery store always has stock and is cheaper


Anyone try this?

yes, you can feed the fish nori from grocery store. my tangs and wrasses all eat them. i don't use the seasoned or flavored nori though.

I have a speciality ethnic food store with cheaper prices than the regular grocery store. They sell Nori there. I plan to use them. Just a thought. Saving money is always good.

Thats my thinking. If i can eat it so can my fishes. I will give them a break from the wasabi nori for now

Amazon has 50 sheets of One Organic nori for $10. I cut them all at once into clip-friendly size and now have like 500 pieces in a zip loc bag.

I also use the store stuff. No issues here except my fish eat a ton of it!!!

All the Nori in my local grocery store is either seasoned or salted. Is the salted ok? They don't have any plain Nori.

I soak mine in garlic or selcon before feeding and the tangs love it!

No. You want just plain roasted nori. See my previous post in this thread. Amazon has some that's a huge quantity for a low price.

Ya the nori I buy from my grocery store has a picture of a clownfish and copperbands on it. Haha

plain roasted, not salted or seasoned will be fine, if you have ever tasted it you would find it tastes salty already so not sure why anyone would want it salted.

I buy roasted Nori from my local Asian market and so does my LFS. He buys it by the case and puts it in little baggies and sells it for 5 times the price. The guy at the Asian market said it was hard to keep in stock because of all of the aquarists but he wasn't complaining.

I have always used nori from grocery stores. It's way cheaper and it's the same stuff. If it's safe for me to eat it's safe for my fish.

Yes perfectly fine and excellent to soak in selcon.

I shop a lot at Asian markets that have bags and bags of different dehydrated seaweeds. Has anyone else ever considered using these?
