Normal or not?

So I have been attempting to make my systems water more stable. I have raised my Ca from 225ish to 425 over the past week currently my system is;
Ca 430
Alk 10 dkh
Mag 1450

I'm losing about 40ppm Ca per day, my hard corals are growing like weeds with great PE and amazing colors however; my Acans are withdrawn like I have never seen. They are still colorful and eating when food is offered but they are no longer fluffy. Is this normal?

As always thanks :D

Not sure about fluffy acans:) I'd find out how to maintain stable alkalinity and calcium levels, as well as magnesium. Are you dosing or using a calcium reactor?

Did you change lighting or flow? Brighter light or more flow may have caused them to shrink down.

Any new fish? My dwarf angels and filefish caused mine to stay retracted.

I'm dosing by hand once a day currently. I have BRS 2 part in the mail so I'm planning to move to it next week. Dosing is new for me, I'm following some how to's on YouTube.

Now that you mentioned it I have added a file fish in the past month. I haven't seen him nipping, I'll have to pay better attention. He might find his way back to the LFS. 😎

Try putting the filefish in your sump and see if you notice a difference. Acan feeder tentacles look like aiptasia at night...he may be confused and it probably all tastes like chicken.

Try bringing your Alk down to 8-9 over a week. My lps always close up when my alk swings to the high side and puff up big when it's low.

Must be. I just need someone with clearance to ask.

What's your clearance, Clarence?
Ok sorry, I had a kit on order from Amazon.
Po4 <0-.03
Nitrates <.02
Nitrites <.02
Salinity 1.026
Ca =410
Mg =1350ish
Dkh =10ish
Temp= 79
Ph= 790 day, 780 night

I cleaned pumps and replaced my carbon, and re-plumbed my UV. I did a 20g water change today. I have been watching the file fish like a hawk, he is not the problem, but just in case he now lives in my extremely packed sump for now.
