is this a relevent product or just bs. It is one of this sites advertisers so is that a good thing please help my poor fish have ich in my reef tank I need help!

The only products that trully work are those with a copper base. Put the fish in quarintine and treat the fish in that tank not in the main tank if at all possible.

yeah but isnt treating the fish then putting him in the same tank kind of self-defeating? what do you do about the tank? you just keep all the fish out of there for 6 weeks while it runs it cycle? how realistic is that when I've only had the fish for 3 weeks.

How many fish have ick? If it's all of them and it's getting worse then yes you are going to have to put all of the fish in quarintine and treat them all. That's the safest way of treating them. You will have to treat them for 6 weeks in a separate tank to insure that that the parasite dies in the main tank.

I feel so bad for them its gotta be driving them crazy. My 3 tangs have it but my true perc clown doesnt show any signs of it. Is ich able to live on ivertebrates? I dont believe they do from my research but I'm not sure.

Ich need a fish to perpetuate their life cycle ... if you leave your ST without fish for 5-6 weeks the ich within the ST should die off naturally.

Unfortunately ich is one of those parasites that you need to keep out of your ST and the best way to keep it out of the ST is to QT each and every fish before you put into the ST .. no exceptions. This applies doubly for tangs which are notorious ich magnets.

Additionally .. placing 3 tangs within a 75 gallon tank within a 3 week period would be considered unwise by many. Some would argue that you should limit new fish introductions to one every few weeks or so ... this allows your biological filter to adapt and also helps reduce stress on your fish. Qting each fish as you purchase forces you to space out the introductions to your tank.

Lastly ... I am unsure how large your tangs are but most tangs require a larger tank than your 75 ... there are lots of good online sources for recommended minimum tank sizes for various fish heres one that may help http://liveaquaria.com/product/scateg.cfm?pCatId=43

Hope this helps.

PS .. Plenty of threads on NoSickFish and IMO this appears to be a product one should stay clear of.

gee thanks for the brow beating as if my fish staring at me with their infested bodies and sad fish eyes isnt bad enough.

Safest not to treat your whole tank, no matter what assurances they give you: if your bioactive sandbed collapses, your fish have no home and everything has to recycle: put the fish in qt to treat.

The ich floating in the water dies off in 6 weeks if it has no host. Your fish need to stay in the qt hotel that long (not necessarily under treatment the whole time) and then can be brought back in. I'd also feed garlic-soaked food as a precaution. The fish like it, the corals don't mind it, and the ich doesn't seem to like it at all. Some think it destroys ich's ability to find a host; some think it just improves the fish's appetite. It's a case of 'can't hurt and might help.' But tangs are so incredibly susceptible to this parasite that real aggressive treatment is useful. I'd withdraw all fish to treatment, just to get them clear of the tank until the parasite dies out.
Good luck.

I agree 100%
Sorry if you feel like this is a brow beating...believe me, I have seen much worse when it comes to stocking large fish . We all make mistakes in the beginning, we have all learned a lesson or two. What I learned about ich? No reef safe meds work. In order to rid your tank and save your fish you HAVE to remove them to qt, treat with hypo or copper and leave the main fallow for 6 weeks.
Most important lesson I have learned is to always qt new arrivals

How are they doing? IMO you have way to many tangs in that 75g and you should really consider giving some of them away. What type of tangs do you have? I hope you know that stress( due to the speed that you put the fish in the tank and their lack of space) is most likely what caused the fish to get the ick in the first place. My advice to you would be to get a quarintine tank, treat the fish fish in there for 6 weeks or more, then try to relocate some of those fish. Good luck! Hope it turns out ok.
