Not a Happy Easter

So today I wake to find a strange quiet coming from my tank. My Wave 2K has once again stopped. This is the second unit in 3 and a half months, despite the manufacturer (Mike) trying to make good I cannot recommend this product. He claims that dripping Kalk causes a problem which makes the unit develope drag, which in turn stops the motor. He said a grounding prob would help, but it didn't. So now I have 3 more frigging MJ powerheads all over the tank to make up for the reduced flow. I will say that the 2K moved the water around nicely, but it's too problematic. Removing that thing the fisrt time caused me to frag several corals, so I'm not looking foward to doing it again. To make matters worse, today my male perc. clowfish kicked the bucket. I had him 1 1/2 years. So now the female is sitting in her Torch Coral by her lonesome. Aside from a closed loop which I'm not plumbed for, how would you guys recommend I increase flow? I'm thing Tunze powerheads, but really dont want to drop that much coin. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Happy Easter to all!

I asked a similar question recently and the hydor Koralias seem like a nice cheaper alternative to the tunze, and people rave about the maxi mods but i haven't done one myself yet. good luck, sorry about your perc.

if the glass is as thick as the AGA 180's I will not recommend the Koralias, the magnet/suction cup combo doesnt do a good job. Im making some mods on a sea swril to mount the Koralias but they are big, I prefffer the Nano streams look from Tunze & the magnet/mount is btter, the regular Streams are big as well, I dont like that.

the stop & go with WM can put some strain on the Hydors, i think MJ are btter iin that set up, but I have no experience with one that has been modified. sorry about the loss James, he is in a btter place.

I have 2 mj mods in my 120. they produce good flow I attached them (epoxy) to two old mag-float magnets I had laying around. Now I can move the mods all around the tank in the moring and night to cause different currents.
I would recommend MJ mods (mjmods.com) for the conversion parts they are made and look very professional and all fit excellent on the maxijet.
ps: it's a very simple and fast conversion.

I just checked that link out.... inexpensive... looks like a GREAT idea!! I just know that there's no way that I could do it myself :(

cost of kit plus MJ equals cost of strongest Koralia that is plug & play.

Hmmm... the Koralia's look good too.
