Not new to the hobby but it's been a long time and much has changed

Hi! I had an 140 gallon saltwater tank setup that we tore down about 12 years ago. We had it for several years and had live rock, soft corals, fish and inverts.

We are wanting to get back into the hobby possibly and I've been doing some research. It's been so long and much as changed. I feel like a newbie for the most part. Ultimately I want about 220-250 (can't go over 84" in length) setup and possibly lighting that will suffice for hard corals this time. Thinking about a permanent quarantine tank of probably 20 gallons.

I do have lots to discuss that probably warrants individual threads but I wanted to say hi :wavehand: and ask where should I post questions about a quarantine tank (that I might like to start out as a small setup with just some live rock and a couple of fish until I can purchase the larger tank setup at which time I would turn it into a q tank) and questions about setting up a 220-250 gallon tank (mostly equipment questions at this point).

I would search Craigslist for someone getting out of the hobby.
It might take some time but you can easily have an established tank with a few fish/coral/equipment for a fraction of retail.
I got a 14g biocube with a helfrichi firefish, pikeblenny, skunk cleaner, blood red, sexy, various snails/hermits, and packed with coral, plus a 20g qt tank with an ocellaris clown for $200.
There's enough people that decide it isn't for them every week that you can be choosy

Sounds like a good start and welcome back.
Technology has changed but the basics have not.
Welcome to the site....
