Sharks!!!!
The 75 gallon reef tank and 25 gallon fuge have been up and running for about a year now and I have had the ups and downs as far as fish and coral growth have come. I have been looking around the tank and notice a light covering all over my pumps and the back of the tank: would have to say it's almost looks like tight carpet or coral line algae that is soft. I have been dosing the red slime remover which has removed a small portion but wonder if I should just cont. dosing the red slime remover or if there is something else I can try?? I am sorry I do not have a photo at this time but if need be I can aquire one soon. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Stop doseing. Find the source.
Whats the water source?
Whats used for water movement?
Tanks age?
The stock and substrate and amount of LR?

Maybe I was a little forward. I dosed the red slime remover twice which I can say help my purple ribbon because it is looking very healthy and is always out. Now I am using well water that has gone through an RO/DI system (have not had it TDS yet). I have a 8 gallon gravity feed float valve used to keep a constant water and salinity level. I have a rio 2100 at the bottom returning the water and 3 different flow pumps moving the water around in the tank. I noticed the other day that the stuff can be brushed or blown off of the pumps almost like detrius. On my two return hoses that are laying in the water I notice this is the area that has the flowing redish/white fluffy stuff. little harder to scrape off. The tank has been up for just over a year now and is stocked with half LR and the other is a man made rock from a friend (he used concrete and sand), substrate is florida crushed coral. Not sure the amounts. At times the tank seems to have a lot of detrius floating around that clears after an hour but I am constantly changing a filter pad located inside the overflow box.
Thanks for your response, any other suggestions?

heres the thing. I recently bought a detrius clean up crew with snails and crabs etc. Three days later it is clear and everything is gone it is back to the nice pink/green/purple coral line algae. I think it was just detrius and hair algae and now it's all gone. I have to say I did have some green hair algae growing in very strong flow and the snail even took that. I just put a few in my fuge to take care of the red and green algae so the macro algae can grow. thanks everyone for some opinions and to just help me get passed my brain fold/.
