10. Is the fish eating? What?

So something seems to be affecting my fish...

They more or less look the same ,perhaps a bit more muted in color ,but nothing major.

However they are acting a lot different. They are all flashing against the filter tubing or on the sand ,and they all look like they want to be cleaned by the chromis. They will flare their fins and open their mouths to be cleaned ,but sadly chromis don't clean fish.

Also my water seems a little off. Not full out cloudy ,but not quite crystal clear like it should be. Its clear ,it just seems...off....

If it is the majority of your fish I would be concerned about velvet or ich. What is common, is common, so I would rec acting immediately. New tank or 50% water change and add copper. If it is velvet, they could be dying on you by tomorrow. Go to the sticky threads above and read.

I agree, parasites can be present in large numbers before many hobbyists can see them; especially velvet. You need a HT/QT. You'll probably have to treat these fish and without a QT, you'll just face the same problem again. Given the number of fish that seem to be bothered by parasites, I think velvet is a real possibility; its often difficult to see at first, and very contagious and deadly. In addition to reading the stickies; I'd Google both "marine ich" and 'marine velvet", include Google images. Velvet needs to be treated ASAP. One velvet infected fish (not quarantined) can wipe out just about any tank of fish in very little time.

can't help you with 'disease' problem, but IMO... a 1 month old tank, probably shouldn't have an orange spotted filefish in it!

I have to agree with poor fish selection. The anthias need to be fed multiple times a day too. To help, from the photos of the filefish's fins and history it appears to be ich. You may also have flukes causing the cloudy eyes.

Without a QT, there isn't much you can do for the ich other than purchase a large UV, but this won't eradicate it. You can add praziquantil and probably should.

In the future, make sure you do your homework in fish selection and husbandry. You have made many choices that will make it difficult to have success with your fish.
