Not sure where this should be asked

Not a coral, but I need an ID on this, and if it is reef safe? Saw it about 4 months ago on the botton of this coral when I got it. Figured it was some type of sponge, but in the last four weeks it has grown crazy, as in 5 inches around.

ANy ideas?

I have had two people on another board tell me it's a colony of tunicates?

I have not been able to find anything that looks like this.

Whatcha think?
