Not sure which type of leather

Hello,

I picked this leather coral up this past weekend. It was interesting in that I really didn't see any polyps. It had an iridecent green velvet look under the coral tank lights. The salesman didn't know exactly what type of leather. I've looked through all my books and on the internet and couldn't find it. It did shed a waxy layer in my tank when I put it in and during the next day. It's doing less of that now. It seems a bit limp now. I just want to make sure I take care of it properly.

Other thing I noticed. I have a big finger leather and some of the fingers aren't expanding and the polyps are not out. I am assuming some of the shedding from the new coral irritated my big finger coral.

Anyway, anyone know what this is and if I need to do anything special?

Ivan

The one is also a type of finger leather or devils hand (Lobophytum). They frequently close up and shed a mucous coating, often after being moved around or imported. Keep it in a place with a decent current, and it should start to expand in a few days. Its not unusual for them to have spotty polyp extension; some even seem to open best after dark.
