The research? Is there some piece of scientific informatoin somwere that says flame scallops will die within a few days? I am not saying they are not difficult, only that it seems a stretch to say they will die withing two weeks whether you feed the tank or not. I guess really the real test will be if mine are alive six months from now. If I were a betting man I would say yes. Of course I have truly live rock from TBS Saltwater, and truly live sand for TBS Saltwater.

I'm assuming that you meant for this to be a reply to the other thread...

By research, I mean do a search on this and other boards. Flame Scallops have a dismal record in aquariums. They generally rank around the top of the list of creatures not to keep and most experts in the field agree.

It's not to say that some people have not had success, but I would not recommend anyone try and keep these just because a few people have done so successfully. Some people have successfully kept Goniopora. Still others have had success breeding Goniopora. Goniopora still has about a 1% or less chance of surviving in an aquarium. Those that have kept them alive can only theorize as to how. I would not recommend keeping a Goniopora for the same reason.

Recommending that someone can keep a difficult to keep animal when so few have done so successfully is very irresponsible.

Goniopora is another that I have heard bad things about. My LFS has had one in their tanks for about 8 months.
