Not to anger the Swap people, but...

... you guys in the club who actually have corals large enough to frag off of, do you want to post what you have available before the swap or give your corals a chance to heal/grow and sit this one out and let all of us coral deficient hobbyists beg frags off some fresh blood this time around?

Patience young grasshopper :)

I too am a newbie to the fragging scene, and I have next to no corals in my tank (except for those generously offered up from NCNBilly, as a gift). It will take a little begging and maybe ponying up a few bucks in cash at first to get off the ground, but after you get started, you will eventually be able to frag back to the group making things fair in the end. Everyone's been where you and I are right now, and most people understand that and are willing to lend a hand asking nothing in return... just that you remember their gift and perhaps are willing to 'scratch their back' in the future. However, people at the TFP event may be trying to make more of business transactions out of the event (swap or sale), so expecting free handouts from 'strangers' may be an exercise in futility.

Another note about the frag swap, I noticed in another thread you said... "'I'm not sure if I am going to shop the store during that time, or before/after. I don't have to hear all the talks... " Just my 2 cents, you may want to reconsider sitting through some of these talks... some good demos (fragging and drilling) and some big names speaking. Point being, $10 for that series of talks is quite the bargain!

Trust me there will be enough to go around depending on what your looking for. Ive been to so many of these swaps so trust me you find a bunch of corals you like.

No, no. Um, there is obviously problems w/ me communicating because, for some reason, I am awake for 24 hour periods -- I'm just not tired. But that doesn't mean I am lucid.

No. What I meant to say is, if there are Susq reefers who want to get rid of some coral (like 2turtles and his mushrooms) or who have corals that they can frag out and could use the $, do you want to say something before the swap so that you have first dibs at us (the buyers.) Sort of like, I would buy from a fellow Susq reefer before the swap out of loyalty, and from the swap before TFP out of loyalty, just cause they are fellow hobbyists. I've got this headache and I know I'm not explaining this clearly. I'd just hate to go to the swap and hear a member say "Damn, I could have sold you tons of that, and I could really use the money, too," as someone is bagging up a frag for me.

Ugh, this is pointless. Around 3:30 am this forum should become "read only" for me! :)

Use the post above to go to the Fragswapper page. Most people on the RC forums use the same handle on Fragswapper. you can look through everything you like and write down who is selling it, then check on here to see if they are members of the Susquahanna club. I have a bunch of stuff listed on there, though I'm not really an active member of the club yet (I wasn't at the first meeting).

What sort of stuff are you looking for? I have some items you might like that I won't be taking down to the swap. I have GSP, candy canes, zoanthids, mushrooms, monti caps, etc...

Basically, I'm looking for softies and the sort of things that people who have been reefing for awhile often have coming out of their ears (if they haven't already started to kill them.) I'm definately interesed in things like Anthelia, Xenia, and clove polyps, each of which has its own RC thread about removal! I'm open to another toadstool, a Sinularia leather, and a colt coral (I've seen so many things called that... I have an entire 20 long w/ no corals, so I can always put something in there!.)

Of course, I realize that not everything grows/frags prolifically. There are things that I am interested in that I fully expect I would need to pay for (since I currently have nothing to swap.) I've seen some beautiful photos of Nephthea and certain ricordea are attractive. I would like to get 2-3 heads of Duncans and I have had success w/ my blastos and would get additional ones. Beyond that, the orange Montipora digitata on fragswapper is nice. I don't have any sps but have read that M. digitata is a good one to start w/, and orange is my favorite color.

Does anyone have a SPS to suggest as a starter, preferrably one that doesn't need a lot of flow or light (yeah, I know...) It doesn't have to be attractive. I have a pair of green coral gobies in an Aquapod w/ only PC light, but they prefer to have a SPS to lay their eggs on and I would like to give them a small living colony if at all possible.

I've already emailed 2turtles about some 'shrooms; hopefully I'll be able to pick some of his up before he nukes them all, and got 2 Kenya trees from lpkenneys, along w/ a GSP knob that is growing -- thanks so much!

Monti's are a very good choice for starting sps. They don't need as much light or flow as some other stoney's, but the flow should be atleast a descent amount. I've seen people grow monti's under PC's if they are high in the tank. Unfortunatly, I don't know if it would hold it's orange color for you or not due to the lighting. of course, the Gobies don't really care what color it is or if it grows fast, just so it's alive!

Hey Elysia, I was going through my tank tonight and found some stuff on the bottom that has kinda been in my way for awhile. I have some shrooms, one or two types of zoas and a piece of sps I can bring to the swap and you can have to try. the sps is a healthy piece, but it got covered by sand and some of it died off. the parts that are still living have nice polyp extension and I still have a piece, so it's yours for the taking. If you decide not to take any of it, the offer is open to anyone else interested.

TomRep,

Sounds great. Like you said, the gobies don't care much about the looks of the coral -- they would probably appreciate green, to match them! This will be great. Thanks so much!

I've got some shrooms, 2 different types of candy canes, GSP, and also a few different types of monti-caps if you want to try SPS...

Anyone know if sexy shrimp will use GSP? I am thinking about setting up a nano for some, but the light level will be pretty low.

Whats up w/ my shrooms? Why don't they want to breed like bunnies? They just like growing huge. Even my one ricordea -- it will get three mouths, then go back to having just one.

Good to know, m0nk. I am definately interested. Have you seen anything on fragswapper that you just have to have? Something that someone could pick up for you, or perhaps you could someone to get and then frag out for you? :)

Can't wait until I have the sump set up on the 56 gallon. Then perhaps I can control my hair algae garden somewhat.

Only thing I'm really after are colorful zoanthids of any variety and stony stuff of all sorts. :D I'll hold some of each for ya, plus you're welcome to some chaeto when you've got your sump setup, it'll help with the hair algae. Have fun at the swap!!

Sexy shrimp might use the gsp, when i had mine he hung around my giant carpet anemone all the time i guess he felt safe there. Hair algea sucks, but make sure your keeping your PO4 and NO3 down and in check and your hair algea will be gone. Get some Turbo snails they love that stuff. When you get your parm. down it will die off then just start picking it up.
