not treating ick?

Yes and no.

If your water conditions are good and you're feeding well, technically i can't see why the fish wouldn't be able to survive. Dependant on how bad the ich is. Some appears to be worse than others...

some fish can handle multiple attacks over the course of several months with little to no decline.
i believe only once the fish becomes heavily infested within the gill area, it will then begin to succumb to suffocation.

depending on the resiliency of the the strain your dealing with and particular fish species that could happen quickly,,slowly or never.

so it's diffucult to provide a concrete analysis.

As with any disease in people, a fish's immune system can fight off the parasite, but as said many factors are at work. I have had several outbreaks where I simply fed smaller amounts of food more often and soaked in garlic(it is believed that garlic helps bolster the immune system). Knock on wood, I have not yet lost a fish to ick. I have been ick free now for a year.

..

over the course of 8 months i had 3 green chromis, leopard wrasse, flame angel, and purple tang that never had an issue 1x with ich- but anything else would die....
QT from then on and have never had a problem
