Notch tank rim

I would like to know can I cut a small notch in my plastic rim on the top of my tank and what would I use to do it

Just the inner lip notched out ?
If so all the way back to where it transitions up or just some of the lip and leaving some?

It will "probably" be ok IMO

You can trim it with a rotary tool/router or even a utility knife scoring it multiple times..
