Now is the time!

This is the time of year when these are the most available and also the cheapest. They can be found at all of the big box stores and are usually $10 or less. It's a remotely activated power supply box. You can find them with one outlet or several outlets, and they have a keychain style wireless remote. I usually clip the remote to my belt loop and have quick easy access to my pump power. I have them in my rodi container and in my premix container. It makes for easier water changes, and no more plugging and unplugging power cords with wet hands. Here is a picture of a $7 one at target...

I even use them for the purpose which they are marketed for at this time of year, which is turning on and off our christmas tree and other christmas lights.

It's purpose is to give you a way to turn on or off a pump or filter or whatever you need without messing with plugs or outlets. My rodi container is a 44 gallon brute and I leave the pump in there all the time along with the 5' hose attached to it. I reach in and grab the hose and then just push the button on the remote and am able to turn pump on and off without risk of electrocution. I also have the same setup in my premix container so I just wheel it around to whichever tank I am doing a water change on and then press the button on the remote hanging from my belt loop


This is what one of them looks like out of the package. Some are boxes that plug right into the outlet, some have little leader plugs like this on.

They have them in the xmas area now with the lights and decorations. Wallyworld, Lowes, and home depot will also carry them

Of the three that I have and use, 2 are the same model and all 3 have separate and unique frequencies
