Doubtful. If they are union electricians working for the city it cost a heck of a lot more than $20 to get him in the truck. If he is a volunteer then obviously there is no pay involved. Any union electrician who does electrically related work for less than the union scale is subject to fines.

I have no idea who does it as I don't have one of these. It may well be more than $20. But I don't think anyone else does annual inspections of these things and it still seems kooky to me.

My hunch is it a salaried Village of Oak Park employee who does it.
