I have a 2 year old that just loves fish :)

I would seriously consider introducing that youngling to fish sticks as even on a 4K budget it is far too much to feed a single kid when they have cheap frozen food. :D

I agree with most of the above comments but wonder if you need a chiller. In a home with AC they are usually not needed and it saves you in initial expense and long term utility bills. Do you have a history of overheating the tank?

well i just bought the setup for $1k, it had a chiller incluuded, 1/10th hp, real quiet. it also has a wet dry....anyone want to buy a real nice wet dry filter? I will probably canablise the w/d and make a nice sump out of it :)

I just spoke with marine depot, they were reccomending a 1k gph return pump for a 100 gal tank... the posiden. anyone had any experiance with that?

I am thinking using 3 quiet ones for my CL they seem fairly economical and only 40 watts for 780 gph @ $77.00 each

In earthquake country, acrylic can be a good thing. :)

Some also say that for safety reasons with kids acrylic is better, but I can't understand how anyone thinks a small child could pull over 1000 lbs of tank. At least there won't be broken glass, if anything goes wrong.

Just remember to get kid locks on the stand. I've read all kinds of stories of toddlers feeding the fish Cheerios or giving them a drink of Kool-Aid.

Im not so sure a small child could pull one over but i can give you some advice from personal experience. Dont leave anything in the room that your 2yr old could bang on the tank with. :( I had my first scare the other day when grandma came to pick the kiddies up and i left the room thinking she was watching the kids to get their things ready. Well 3 minutes later i walk back in and was horrified to see my 15month old (usually likes to grub up the front glass looking at fishy fishy) heading towards the tank with a baseball bat in hand. My 6yr old left it by the front door earlier. I am so glad i came back before he got to the tank. Now all hard play toys are forbidden in the living room:D

that is good advice... we are real lucky. he is a real good kid. there is a 96" tv screen in the same room. it has been ther his entire life. knokc on wood he has never toucked it... he just knows it is off limits. that being said, i am already considering how to make some sort of skirt to keep him from reaching around back. I am thinking of taking my brad nailer and poping up sone 1/4" oak veneer

ok I was wrong aboput the jebo lights, I found out that ther are jalli 24" hqi de with t5 .03 are the jalli any good or do i need to start looking for other lights.. thanks
