nudibranch toxic?

after a triving two months of feeding on sponges. the chromodoris nudibranch in one of my sps tanks killed it self by moving to a very strong curent.now corals are starting to bleach.a ten% water change was made. but montiporas look worst. also how large of a water change can be made in a short amount of time?

Chromodorids aren't supposed to be that toxic. The really nasty nudis belong to the family Phyllidiidae.

Even if you had a lot of different sponges unless the right species of sponge was available a Chromodoris will starve. I wonder if it's just a coincidence that the nudi died & your corals are looking bad at the same time.

I think might want to run some activated carbon just in case. Feeding the corals some sort of phytoplankton food wouldn't hurt. I would post in the SPS forum for additional advice. Reducing your photoperiod temporarily could also be helpful, but I'm not sure if that is really the right course of action. I wouldn't change any more water, that will probably just stress the corals more. Is the temperature in your aquarium stable? Is it too hot?

HTH & GL,
Kevin
