nudi's

New to site, Hi all!! One of my tanks is a 12 gal Aquapod full of nothing but zoanthids. Yesterday late I realized I had a bad case of nudi's. Tweezered out about 13 of the buggers. Today I followed advise here and did the iodine FW dip. Got out more and some eggs picked off. Ok here is my question.. these are soft bodied creatures and a couple of times while using the tweezers I smashed them and was unable to retrieve all the pieces before they floated away behind a rock, and one went into back filter chamber. Can these stupid things regenerate from pieces or is it just the eggs. When should I repeat the dip? Didn't get as many that way as picking them off the night before. Please help.. I love my zoa's and will do this as often as needed to save them. And from now on no zoa goes into my tanks without a long cool drink!!!

I think chopping them up will just kill them, they won't regenerate and split into multiple nudibranchs like an earthworm. The way I conquered nudibranchs is using FW dips, a Halichoeres wrasse and Salifert's Flatworm eXit. I've been nudibranch free a few weeks now and my zoas are loving it. You may be able to skip the wrasse, and given the size of your tank, you probably should. I think just the FW dips and Flatworm eXit should do the trick. I never bothered with iodine.

i would follow Muchos Dip instructions, and do the dipping repeatedly. I also dont think they regenerate from cuttings, although many worm types do.

That's a bummer, nudis suck. :( But on the up side it's not that large of a tank so you should be able to dip everything in there fairly easily. I really feel for those people with large tanks that get nudi outbreaks.

Best of luck with killing all those little buggers....

flatworm exit works for nudibranchs? good to know...

also, keep in mind that there may be some nudis hanging on your rocks in the display as you take out the zoos to dip them

It worked for me, and I've heard it worked for others. My wrasse ate the larger nudibranchs, but left the tiny ones alone. I continued doing FW dips on the frags showing irritation and then dosed Flatworm eXit at about 1.5 times the recommended dosage and they were gone in days.
