numbering of JPEG files D40X

Hey guys, I deleted the photos on my D40X thru the USB from my computer, and then next picture starts as DSC0000 again, this is very annoying, as my sony always keep's its memory, so now I have to rename the files.

Would deleting the files with the camera itself have this problem, or is there a way to specify the starting number of the Jpeg in the camera? If it has I could not find it.

My D40 does the same, but because it also puts them in a folder by date, I don't have to rename them. What program do you use to download them?

Go to Menu - Setup - File No. Sequence
Make sure it's ON..
