O rings for Silence 1073.04?

I just received my new 1073.04 and there are two o rings that look they go in the groove of the barb fittings. Is that where they go? I assume then that teflon tape is unessary if there are o rings, correct?

Also, the pump came out of the packaging covered in some kind of lubricant or preserving fluid, is this normal? What is it? Just rinse with water before use?

The orings are all you need, be careful with teflon as it can split the pump opening if too thick.

The oily substance is 5ml of a 20% glycerin solution, it is added to every pump we make for a factory test run, you can rinse it if you want but it is harmless.
