O.T. ~ Anyone into kayak fishing?

Have'nt yet,(but willing to try?)... I've only had my yak for a couple mo. and still setting it up for fishing. Just looking for fellow like minded people to share tips/go fishin - whateva : )

let me re-phrase then

do you flyfish, and was that your plan with the kayak? I flyfish the delta and have heard of guys fishing from kayaks (in the ocean actually!). Seems it would be hard to cast and fight fish.

I have only been flyfishing once years ago... I do have a fly set-up I inheirited from a buddy. I am way to green to stand up in my kayak (especially in the middle of winter!) lol... but maybe this summer I will put in some practice. I would be interested in a flyfishing lesson... What do you catch out of the delta with fly's? : )

If you've only done it once you prolly don't wanna jump into kayak fishing (at least not w/ flies). I'm pretty sure they don't stand up to cast.

Mainly catching stripers and large mouth bass, occasional catfish. A month ago was insane. I fish with my dad and in 20 casts he hooked 20 stripers, no exaggeration. It drives the bait fishers nuts to see a guy in a boat catching fish with a fly rod when they're getting skunked :D

(we release everything of course)

I am! I went down south this past summer and caught a nice mackerel from my kayak. I was a little unsure and unbalanced at first, but once I settled in and relaxed I had a blast.

I've got a 16' Perception Carolina that I rigged with rod holders and such. I'm hoping to take it out on the Feather River next September during salmon season and try my luck. I live right along the Feather, so I've gone out and explored the area several times, but I have yet to try to fish it from my yak. I'll admit, I'm a little nervous about the prospect of being dragged around in my kayak by a 30+ lb fish....should be quite a ride.

I've also taken it out on Folsom quite a bit, and have gone out on Lake Tahoe a few times. But I've only fished on it twice, so I need a little more practice before I take on a salmon.

Sound's like fun!...Maybe we can meet up sometime and try our luck... : )
The last time I was out I put in near the port of Sacramento (I had no idea some spot's are over 100' deep there!)...didn't catch anything though~
