O/T - Handheld Green Laser 4 Trade

actually, it's 75mW, not 75Mw...guess I mistyped it once in the description...but considering that the 5mW units are the strongest commercially available hand held lasers in the U.S., this unit is pretty impressive.

Whats really impressive is the size as well. I remember getting to play with one when I was around 12 or 13 with a guy who specialized in lazers and they use to be pretty bulky, about the size of a large coffee thermose but square and pretty heavy.

Just thinking...are these safe to beam into water? It would be so cool to be able to nuke aptasias right where they sit! :D

hmm, i'm not sure if the heat from the beam would transfer through water very well...I doubt that it would. so unless aptasia are light sensitive than I doubt it would do much, if anything.

Dear, Why is the homeland Security and FBI on our grass?????

Man, That thing would be awesome.

I looked at the website, do you have to have a special permit to buy those or can anyone buy them?

well, they're not really supposed to ship them to the U.S., and customs isn't supposed to let them into the country.

but, oddly enough, the packaging from the company lists the contents of the shipment as being a "ball-point pen". I don't know how many get flagged by customs, but apparently most of them ship without difficulty...makes you wonder what else gets through, doesn't it?

OHHH dont get me started on that...... I'll end up Pi$$ing off some people

LOL:rollface:

If your old enough to remember the movie "Real Genius" with Val Kilmer a long time ago, that movie really got me into lasers and college. Too bad college wasn't has "cutting edge" as I had hoped it would be.

I wish I had the $500 for the big one.........way cool, always wanted one!!!

The whole "aiming into the tank to nuke XXXX" was what I was thinking also. Think of those hitchiker crabs, aiptasia, mojanos, worms and mantis shrimp that you just can't seem to catch, but that you can see out on the rocks, seemingly mocking you. A laser strong enough to stun or kill them through the glass would be ideal. :)
