We have the opportunity to do a group buy on the Ocean Pods Copepods provided by Adelaide Rhodes. The cost is $20.00 per bottle (This price represents a 20% discount and there are no shipping costs.) If you are interested, please post on this thread and indicate the quantity. (Do not send PM's.)
The copepods will be distributed at the November 17th MARS meeting.
Thanks,
James

The information below gives the details of the product:

"Ocean Podsâ"žÂ¢ Copepods promote the general ecological balance of the saltwater tank community. It is a mix of three species of copepods that range in size and behavior to meet the most common needs of the marine aquarium hobbyist. Ocean Podsâ"žÂ¢ are also a great solution for “picky” eaters, (Mandarin dragonets, Watchman Gobies, Lined Wrasse, Sea Horses, Blennies etc.) as well as being a natural addition to the diet of your average saltwater fish. The Ocean Podsâ"žÂ¢ bottle is added directly to
the tank and you will experience a “bloom” of copepods within a couple weeks. For the most ferocious eaters, Ocean Podsâ"žÂ¢ can be cultured for continuous feeding. Instructions for culturing Ocean Podsâ"žÂ¢ as well as answers to commonly asked questions are located on our website at www.oceanpods.com."

Thanks for the info Elite. I am curious to know what the "bigger bombshell" was. I haven't tried or seen ocean pods but I've been very happy with reef-nutrition's pods.

I didn't find that thread all that helpful. Do we not have enough drama on this board? Why would we want to appear less than cordial to someone about to speak to our club?

Sorry, I don't mean anything. I didn't know she will be a speaker for your club. I thought it's interesting for everyone who hasn't buy the product and want to have some feedback on the product. I'm out of here ;) ..

I have used both Ocean Pods and Tigger Pods. It is my understanding that they are different kinds of copepods.

If I were going to be in town I would be taking advantage of this special.

I always try to provide as many different foods as I can for my reef. Variety is the spice of life you know.

Same pods. :D

True to a minor extent. She adds several other species of copepods that Reed doesn't do. Both are excellent products, I'd get both for a greater diversity :)

I wouldn't give that thread much merit. I started my current tank initially with a bottle of OceanPods, and my glass was littered with crawlies a week later.

I felt this may have been the reason the tank didn't go through a lengthy algae bloom in the early stages.

If I had known about TiggerPods at the time, I would have liked to have used both.

Which is why it's odd that he made it such a big deal. Plus, pods have survived worse travels through live rock. There's obviously a hidden agenda. I've bought worse things for $39 (power sweep), but wouldn't go this far to bash them:lol:

Wow. that thread was pretty rough in there.

After checking out the site (and maybe Im the only one who thinks this) OceanPods are for starting your own culture not for dumping into the tank when there is active predation. This is a horrible analogy so bear with me but it seems to go with the whole "Give a man a fish/teach a man to fish" kind of thinking. If you dump a bottle in the tank you'll feed your fish for a day, start a culture you can feed them for life.

Again following my perhaps flawed frame of mind, it wouldnt matter if 20 or 2000 lived...once reproduction starts you are going to have a sustainable culture of copepods. Thats just my thinking though.

As a side note I have dealt in customer service much to my unending dismay. Regardless of what happened and who was right and wrong there are customers that will never be happy until you throw in a back massage and a bag of Haberno Doritos. Whether it was a legitimate grievance or not I wont speculate, but I would compare it to the random complaints of the LFS around here...some people are quite a bit more vocal about their feelings than is warranted. Plus some people have great experiences while others don't...all part of that fun and exciting condition that I call "opinion." (Incidentally it turns out that i did not create that word and someone beat me to it...I blame the oil companies)

That works the same for RN's Tigger-Pods or OceanPods. :D

I think the problem was that the bottle used to say 1000 and people weren't getting 1000. That would bug me a whole lot. :D the bottle has been changed. :D

The group buy is the intention of this thread; however, some people enjoy hi-jacking threads or veering them off course.

You can pay for the pods at the November MARS meeting.
