I'm sure this has been adressed before but with the search not working i'll ask again. i live right on the ocean.. is it possible to use ocean water and sand from the atlantic? just thinking it might be a lot cheaper for me this way. i know there is no coral around but just for the water and sand? any thoughts?

Is it legal, esp sand collection. In someplaces it's illegal to remove sand.
A lot of coastal sand is silica based instead of carbonate based. It works but you give up some advantages.
Coastal pollution is a concern, do you have a boat to get far enough out. I collected water from a pristine beach on the gulf but got tired of wondering when I'd import red tide.

if u live near a college with a marine biology setup they should be able to get youfiltered natural saltwater.
