Oceanic 156 Ultimate

I'm thinking about upgrading and only have room for a 5' tank. Oceanic makes a 156 ultimate with Starfire glass on front.

Does anyone have one or knows somebody who knows somebody?

They are kind of pricey and I would appreciate feedback.

This is the tank that I am hoping to buy in the near future. I really like the dimensions of the tank. Just remember that Oceanic is now owned by All-glass so the overflow boxes are the "mega-flow" overflows. They aren't the older oceanic corner boxes. I personally don't mind that, but I've read that some people don't care for the megaflows.

I just bought a 140 ultimate that isn't reef-ready. I plan on drilling and making my own overflow and if you're not using an oceanic stand, you have no warranty anyway ;)

Are you satisfied with the 140? was is worth the money? I'm sitting on a fence. I could buy the 156 oceanic and have a 5'x2' wide tank that will probably cost me $1000 or buy a perfecto 120 5' x 18" tank for about $400 and have it drilled. I really like having the 2' wide for the live rock .

Bottom line - is the starfire glass and the 6" extra width worth it?

Did you check out marineland 250-300 tank? I think the 250 is 60x36x27. Price is over 1g for them though. I was researching and stumbled upon it. I think the width on them are great for a reef setup.

I agree with the 2' width. really nice for scaping. It's not filled and I've never seen a starphire filled so I don't really know exactly how much of a difference it makes. I've read it's a big difference but....?

IMO, the bigger the tank, the bigger the difference.

The clarity is closer to acrylic than traditional glass.
