Oceanic biocube 29g

Are you wanting a retrofit in the hood or taking the top off? I’m looking into this same thing now. If you want to leave the hood on I hear Steve’s led retrokit is great. I bought mine used and the hood is gutted so I am trying to find a different option now. I may get a radion xr15 and cut a hole in the hood and mount it on top, but I’m worried about the spread not covering the whole tank at that height. I have radions on my 90 gallon and run them off of the ecotech live app so it would integrate if I did.

You can get a really neat look if you pop the rim off.

If price isn’t an issue, I would recommend the AI HYDRA26 hd, if u decide to upgrade the tank the ai can still be use and it already has built in controllers n WiFi.

I was on a budget but am please with the result in my 29g Biocube for just over $80 CDN (roughly $60 USD). I bought two $40CDN Nicrew 20 inch units on amazon, inverted the mounts and attached them to the hood instead of letting them just rest on the tank precariously (we have young kids etc). Just did this yesterday so please excuse the algae. This was a "neglected" FOWL that I'm revitalizing and will include some LPS soon. Had the fish in there with...(don't flame me)...one annual 8g water change per year for the past 9 years. Fed once per week. Same fish, no deaths. Of course now I'm going to go back to the once a month water change and all the proper maintenance and stress :lol2: Updates soon in a new thread. I'll let you know how the lights hold up. BTW, although they come with remotes so you can change the brightness and colors, they are not programmable. My solution was to buy two and leave one blue which which turns on earlier and stays on later and leave the other in white light mode.

I removed the feeding access door as well to allow for better evap. As expected this system doesn't seem to generate any noticeable heat (no fans either). Still, the Nicrew lights aren't waterproof and I didn't want the condensation raining down on the backs of the fixture. So there have been zero water droplets building up anywhere under the hood.
